Development workflow

carbon dev

The desktop development command:

  1. Loads and validates carbon.json.
  2. Generates application command types and syncs capabilities.
  3. Starts build.devCommand when the dev URL is not already available.
  4. Runs the backend with dotnet watch.
  5. Loads build.devUrl in the native webview.
  6. Watches command sources and refreshes declarations after changes.

Use explicit target aliases when scripting:

carbon dev ios

Android and IOS development commands build and deploy through their native .NET workloads. Boot or connect the target emulator/device first.

Run one-shot generation in CI or editor tasks:

carbon types
carbon capabilities check
carbon doctor

If another process already owns the Vite URL, Carbon uses it instead of starting a second server.
